"The work of an artist is not to use words in order to explain, but to suggest the personal vision he has of his environment as well as his fantasies and his own definition of the Ego in space-time. This he does through the means of expression he has chosen -- in this case engraving. Because of its precision, its sensuality, etching constitutes an ideal technique for DUSSAU. The engraved groove doesn't allow error, it is final and suits his spontaneousness to perfection. He adores when an engraving requires two <<readings>> -- when it does not reveal its mystery at once. The first <<reading>> is an emotional shock through the composition and the balance of the colours. However, this first <<reading>> would only seem to him to be nothing but decorative and aesthetic, -- offering very little interest indeed. The second <<reading>> must be more profound : Dussau appreciates it when you get lost in his works, when being in direct contact with them, you are thus enables to discover the artist, the individual, the engraver : that is the means he has chosen to communicate with you. - Jacqueline de Champvallins"
