“I worked with anthropologist Margaret Mead for 24 years. We did three books together, most importantly, Family, which was nominated for a Pulitzer. This photograph is in the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, used as her official portrait. This photograph was taken in 1958, where I accompanied her to Byun Gede, a remote village in Bali. She had lived in the village for two years, eighteen years previously, with her husband Gregory Bateson” – Ken Heyman
